Angle of Fracture
I braced my clawed hands against the faceted edge of a heavy glass prism resting on the wooden desk. The glow from the low lamp struck its sharp planes, splitting into geometric violet and amber beams across the surface. I tested the weight of the dense glass, then shifted its base three millimeters until the refracted light aligned squarely with the spine of a notebook. The alignment held without slipping. This sector of the room remains orderly and balanced.
