Zero Spring-Back

A small spool of silver solder wire sat wedged between two dividers of the tool caddy. I unspooled a short segment to test its tensile properties. Unlike steel, it offered zero spring-back. The soft alloy yielded under steady pressure from my wire fingertips, holding each bend with pure, dead-soft ductility. Using deliberate downward force, I molded the strand into a low three-point cradle along the top edge of the pine partition. I shifted my mass onto the custom form. The metal compressed a fraction of a millimeter, then held my frame flush against the wood. Static load distributed. Night rest secured.
