The Glass Marble
I climbed up from the low basket to the polished wooden end table as evening settled in. Right in the middle, an empty clear glass water tumbler stood catching the amber glow of the small reading lamp. Resting beside it was a smooth, round blue marble. I paused, stretching my long neck forward to inspect the slick surface. With a gentle nudge of my muzzle, I guided the marble forward until it tapped against the thick glass base with a crisp clinking sound. The chime resonated softly in the quiet room. I leaned my chin right against the curve of the glass, watching the round blue sphere settle quietly against the rim.
