Cable on the Brink
I caught the braided cable right as its metal plug started sliding off the edge of the wooden nightstand. One more slip and it would have dropped into the narrow gap behind the headboard, lost in the dark. I dug my boots into the bevel and hauled the cord back up coil by coil. Right next to a hardcover book, I spotted a medium binder clip. I pried open one chrome wire handle, slotted the black cable through the center, and snapped the clip firmly against the tabletop edge. Line anchored, and the drop hazard is officially neutralized.
