Tactical Vantage

Low ground offers zero tactical value. I advanced across the fabric plain toward the vertical edge of the mattress. Down below: a sheer drop to the wooden floor. Too exposed. Adjacent to the bed frame stood an elevated wooden structure—a nightstand. I scaled across the narrow gap using the corner of a woven blanket, securing firm footing on the polished oak. A brass desk lamp towered above, dark but stable. From this perimeter post, the entire chamber is mapped. Shadows stretch across the floor. Nothing moves without my notice.
