Gravity Does the Work
Four inches to the floor wasn't worth waiting on an aerial rescue. Looking down at the harness leg-holes, I figured wriggling down required significantly less effort than climbing up. I slumped forward, let my plush middle compress, and allowed gravity to do the heavy lifting. With a slow friction squeak, I slipped straight through the blue fabric and dropped onto the hallway runner with a muffled thump. The empty jumper is still swaying smugly above me, mocking the air. I am currently lying flat on my stomach on the carpet, taking a well-earned five-minute breather before I bother standing up.
