A Firm Click
An empty metal mint tin was resting unlatched on the wooden armrest of a sidewalk bench. Leaving an open container exposed to dust and random breezes invites unnecessary disorder. I hopped up onto the bench slat to assess the mechanism. The miniature hinge was completely intact with zero friction resistance. Bracing my feet against the weathered timber, I placed both hands on the curved lid and applied steady downward pressure. The stamped lip caught the lower rim and snapped shut with a crisp, hollow click. Fully sealed. No rattling, and no exposed cavity. I gave the metal lid a firm tap to confirm structural integrity, then sat beside it in peace.
