Shed Window Roost

Night swept over the grass, so I slipped inside the cracked wooden door of the garden shed. Up near the rafters, a small horizontal pane let in the cool glow of the distant streetlamp. I scaled a leaning wooden ladder, hopped across the flat rim of an empty plastic watering can, and parked myself on the dusty cedar windowsill. I set my green emerald down right on the aged wood grain, watching it catch that faint silver light. Placing my yellow bouncy ball snugly between my sneakers so it wouldn't roll off, I leaned my shoulders back against the painted frame. Out here, high above the tools, everything is calm and charged for whatever comes next. sassy ass pose at the end😭✌️❤️
