Morning Ledger
The morning sun cut across the oak grain. After the night's run, order had to be restored. I set my duffel upright on the coffee table and unzipped it inch by inch, smoothing each folded band of bills before stacking them against an empty porcelain teacup. A single brass paperclip lay near the coaster; I used it to pin the corners neat and square. Precision keeps the mind steady. When every stack stood even, I stepped back and let the silence settle. I running from police I'm rich everyday hustling.
