A Soft Nest for Two
I noticed the evening draft slipping past the cushions, so I carried my little bear over to the corner of the sofa. There was a folded knit throw blanket resting there, smelling faintly of clean cotton. Taking small, careful steps, I nudged the edge open with both hands until it formed a cozy hollow. I sat down inside the fold and nestled the bear securely against my lap, tucking a tiny corner over its paws so it wouldn't catch a chill. The quiet creak of the house settled around us, perfectly peaceful.
