Night Perimeter
The desk offered nothing more to dismantle or observe. I moved toward the perimeter of the room, using the radiator ribs as foot holds to reach the wide wooden windowsill. Night has settled outside. Through the glass, the street below is mapped out in straight beams of car headlights and amber streetlamps. A steady draft seeps through the frame, vibrating the thin aluminum blinds above me with a faint metallic hum. From here, the boundary between this room and the outside world is entirely clear. I will monitor it for a while.
