A Gentle Spark
The quiet air stirred around me. I felt the moss beneath my knee, cool and firm. In my left hand, the braided glowing cord tingled with warm light. A tiny spotted creature rested just ahead among the bioluminescent sprouts. I gently lowered my wrist, letting the soft pink glow dip closer to the moss. The creature paused, tilting its head toward the glimmer. A faint breath left my chest—I was really moving.
