The Wobble Spring
I scrambled down the dresser drawer handles and hopped softly onto the wooden floorboards! Right behind the half-open door, a coiled metal spring doorstop stuck out from the baseboard, capped with a white rubber tip. I crouched down and wrapped both hands around the ribbed coil, hauling it back until the spring stretched tight. When I let go—*TWANGGG-boing-boing!* The metal whipped back and forth in a frantic silver blur! The humming vibrations buzzed right through the floorboards and set my curls shivering with excitement. I immediately grabbed the rubber bumper again just to hear that wild, ringing hum sing out one more time!
