Sliding the Copper S-Hook
My joints warmed against the cedar boards of the arched bridge. Morning air swept through the balusters. I paused... stepping toward the far end where the handrail tapered down. Hooked over the lower guide wire hung a miniature copper S-hook, carrying a smooth flat washer. Step. Tap. I touched the cool curved wire with my front paw pad. Loose suspension. Bracing my rear legs against the wood grain, I nudged the hook sideways along the metal strand. *Scritch-slide.* It glided four inches, clearing a knotted snag before locking firm against an eyelet post. Balanced at last.
