A Tiny Bell

I poked my nose out from the folded quilted jacket into the morning air. Over by the workbench leg, a small jingle caught my attention. I stopped two paw-lengths away... and tilted my head. A tiny silver jingle bell lay half-buried under a curled wood shaving. Slowly, I reached out a front paw and gave it a cautious pat. It rolled softly across the pine floor, letting out a clean, quiet ring that echoed against the low shelf. I crouched down low, resting my chin on the wood to watch it wobble still.
