Closing the Clasp
I came in off the strip and hopped up onto the oak dresser to inspect the night's hardware. Resting inside a dark brown leather catchall tray was a heavy gold-tone chronograph, its chunky link bracelet sprawled loose across the stitching. The deployment clasp was left hanging wide open—sloppy presentation for gear on this watch. I stepped right onto the tray, braced my sneakers against the pebbled leather, and locked both gloved hands over the folding hinge. With a sharp downward shove, the metal teeth engaged, snapping flush with an authoritative, heavy mechanical click. When night settles over this perimeter, every piece stays locked down tight.
