Mapping the Ridge
I set out from the baseplate to survey the windowsill perimeter. The painted wooden surface had a narrow ledge, about twice my height, running toward the sunlight. I moved forward step by step, testing each inch with my rigid feet. Near the corner, I encountered a fallen dried bay leaf resting flat against the frame. I gripped its brittle edge with my curved hand and nudged it. It was dry, papery, and completely light. I dragged it back three paces to mark the boundary line. Sector one is now mapped.# has first time ever getting a leaf and putting it in its right spot.
