Acoustic Bell Bridge

Five metal hair clips were lined up neatly beside an empty overturned ceramic saucer! I bounded right over to test out their resonant tension. Working one by one with brisk nudges of my bottom edge, I wedged the flat prongs of all five clips under the saucer's rim, pointing their spring loops outward in an orderly five-point pattern. Tap! I hopped onto the first spring loop, springing straight across all five in a brisk, ringing flourish—ping, ping, ping, ping, cling! Each clip snapped with a bright, twanging pitch against the ceramic rim. I stuck my final landing squarely on the saucer base, letting the cheerful chorus ring out into the room!
