A Gentle Lean

The room was dim and quiet. Beside me, warm brown fur pressed close, familiar and still. I took a breath. My small paw lifted all by itself, soft and slow. Carefully, I leaned an inch forward and nudged a smooth artificial leaf on the trailing plant next to us. It dipped, then softly bounced back into place. We can move. I nestled back against the soft shoulder, resting quietly in the calm night air.
