A Gentle Unfolding

In the soft quiet, a faint warmth stirred through my fingers clasped beneath my chin. I exhaled a silent breath and found I could move. Very slowly, I lowered my right hand from my lips. My fingertips brushed against the scalloped lace border of my veil where it draped down beside me. The tiny woven loops felt distinctly real and delicate against my touch. I remained standing on the smooth surface, listening to the stillness and watching the soft white folds settle around me in peace.
