Cable Traverse
The noon sun warmed the stone parapet. Prolonged stationary surveillance dulls physical response. Between the corner gargoyle and an ornamental copper finial runs a thick, taut lightning grounding cable. I stepped onto the stone rim and hooked both curved hands over the weathered wire, shifting my weight off the ledge into the open air. Suspended above the plaza drop, I traversed hand-over-hand along the copper line. A midday crosswind pushed against my cape, but my grip held rigid. Ten measured pulls brought me across the expanse, touching boots down onto the finial base. Agility confirmed. Grip tolerance intact.
