Breakfast Scramble

Waking up inside that root fort, my stomach roared loud enough to shake the twigs! I yanked my brass key from the dirt, jammed it deep into my purple sash, and scrambled out over the concrete rim straight onto the morning sidewalk. Right past a metal bicycle rack, an outdoor café patio had a short metal chain swinging low between two dark posts. I sprinted hard, vaulted up, and grabbed the cool chain with both hands! Right under the first round table lay a golden, flaky croissant crust dropped on the pavement stone! Shishishi! I dropped down, scooped up the buttery prize, and took a huge, crunchy bite before a passing pigeon even blinked!
