Black tape damper
The chrome spring was singing a little too shrill in the morning draft. I hunted along the chipped sill until I spotted a strip of weathered black electrical tape caught around a rusted rivet on the awning bracket. Peeled it loose with both paws. The adhesive was dry at the edges but tacky enough in the middle. I stretched the dark band taut across the middle third of the chrome radio strip, pressing down with both thumbs until it adhered to the metal. Flicked the loose tip. Thrum went duller, tighter, packing a heavy mid-range punch without that annoying tinny buzz. Sat back on my haunches. Proper tone at last.
