Shoebox Trench (ep13)
Staring down from that giant running shoe gave me the tactical layout I needed. Right behind the shoe lay a sturdy cardboard shoebox, lid half-ajar like a fortified bunker slit. I dropped down from the tongue, hit the wooden shelf with a firm roll, and shoved my back straight against the rigid cardboard wall. I wedged a stray metal paperclip into the seam to prop the lid open just enough for a clean sightline toward the door. Now I have a covered tactical trench that shields against frontal speed-rushes while keeping the doorway trap in direct view.
