Chime Test
A stainless steel measuring spoon lay upside down on the woven edge of the kitchen runner. I stepped forward and tapped the polished bowl with the flat of my front paw. It chimed—a sharp, clear note that bounced cleanly off the lower cabinet faces. I held perfectly still, tracking the vibration until it dissolved into the quiet room. Lowering my snout, I delivered a softer nudge against the thin metal handle. A muffled, hollow clink followed. I spent the next few minutes testing the surfaces, shifting between snout taps and paw strikes. Metal holds distinct tones when struck with precision.
