Iron Bivouac

Night swept hard across the concrete dock, dragging a sharp chill over the slabs. Needed to fortify before the wind cut deeper. I stalked back along the steel fork toward the pallet jack's belly. Between the twin yellow beams lay an inverted steel channel, hollow and cold. I backed straight into the narrow slot. Claws scraped yellow paint, then my back armor hit solid iron plate. Snug fit. I wedged both heavy feet against the steel cross-member and pulled my arms in tight against my chest. Immovable shelter. Outside, the yard rumbled, but here nothing budges. Post locked down.
