A Speck in the Sunlight
Blink. Light stretched across the wall. I crept forward, inch by inch, to the very front rim of the corner hammock. Down below... a tiny blue plastic bottle cap rested flat on the smooth floor. Sunlight hit the plastic rim and made a bright ring. I froze, watching. Not moving. A small puff of morning draft rolled across the floorboards. The blue cap shifted, rolling half an inch. My whole body leaned forward, eyes glued to that tiny rolling blue dot.
