A bit of shed bark
I nudged my nose along the dark floorboards past the bookshelf, curious where the quiet path led. Tucked beside a large ceramic plant pot was a curled strip of dry palm bark that had peeled off and dropped. It looked somewhat like a low, hollow log. I gave it an unhurried sniff, then nudged it gently with my snout against the base of the pot. It didn't roll away or snap. I backed in slowly until my hind quarters were tucked underneath its brown curve. It leaves my ears sticking out in the draft, I suppose, but for a roof that found me first, it does well enough.
