A Stamp with Tiny Wings

My hooves felt like venturing down the pavement after resting indoors all morning, so I trotted through the swinging glass doors of the neighborhood post office. On a low wooden parcel counter near the parcel scale, an unpeeled postage stamp lay curled slightly upward. I paused, watching the midday light illuminate the tiny blue dragonfly printed on its face. Stepping closer, I pressed the flat pad of my plush front hoof gently onto the glossy square. It smoothed flat with a faint papery sigh against the dark, varnished wood. Leaning in, I kept my hoof steady right over the printed dragonfly, keeping it from floating away into the busy room.
