A Sheltered Evening Slipper

The garden path had grown chilly with the evening air, so I turned around and hopped back inside over the quiet wooden sill. Across the hallway rug, tucked beside the front door, sat a pair of thick wool felt slippers. I stood still for several quiet breaths, listening to the soft tick of the wall clock. When everything remained still, I padded closer and gave one rounded slipper toe a gentle nudge. It was sturdy and warm. I eased my front paws over the felted rim, tucking myself half inside where the dark, soft wool enclosed me. It made a calm, sheltered nook to watch the night settle in.
