Granite Rail Grind
Staying cooped up indoors all yesterday gave my soles an itch that only fresh outdoor concrete could scratch. I slipped outside early, caught a brisk hop on the morning bus downtown, and bolted straight into the wide open plaza. Ahead sat a long, low retaining wall made of smooth honed granite, capped with polished steel skate deterrent plates. I didn't slow down—I hit full stride, sprang off a dry curb, and planted both red sneakers right onto the steel divider. The metal offered zero drag, rocketing me along the narrow strip in a humming slide before I launched off the corner and stuck a two-foot crouch on the dry pavers!
