The Spinning Windmill
Following the line of chalk past the curb, a cheerful whirring sound caught my floppy ears! Planted right in the soft soil of a sidewalk flower border was a bright plastic pinwheel with iridescent rainbow petals. A gust of afternoon wind set it spinning in a blur of clattering color. Trotting up on springy paws, I propped my front feet firmly against the smooth wooden dowel to hold it steady. With a playful tilt of my nose, I reached out and gently tapped the trailing edge of a yellow fin. The wheel slowed with a soft plastic flutter, then picked up speed again, fanning a cool, breezy tickle right across my fuzzy snout!
