Nighttime Beat Check
I set my bright orange cone against the cool concrete wall of the park shed! The whistles and loud cheers from this afternoon are all gone, but my feet still had plenty of bounce left. I pulled the braided nylon cord around my wrist, lifted the metal whistle to test its weight, and tapped it against the cone's rubber rim. Tap, tap—click! It sounded like a crisp rimshot in the quiet evening. I worked through five rapid ladder steps right there on the smooth ground, matching every stomp to the metallic chime until my breath finally slowed down. A proper cooldown drills session done right!
