A Morning Greeting

I pushed past the bottom hem of the screen door to get out into the morning air! Down on the second concrete step, an enormous yellow oak leaf was lying crisp and dry, curled up like a little sun-boat. I nudged it with both paws to see if it would roll, and it spun around with a loud, crunchy rustle that made me jump back in surprise. It didn't roll away, but it made the grandest sound. I ended up standing over it with my paws planted right in the center, enjoying the crinkly crunch underfoot!
