A hollow twig boat
The quiet inside felt a bit too still, so I stepped out through the back screen door to check on the garden path. Near the damp soil, I found a dry, hollow seed pod cracked right down the middle, shaped just like a shallow canoe. I scooped up a tiny pinch of dried soil and pressed a bright yellow dandelion petal into it to serve as a little sail. When a slight draft rolled past the grass, the petal tilted back, steady and patient, ready to glide across the moss.
