A Crisp Leaf on Stone
I slipped past the heavy front door, taking very slow steps down the worn stone stairs. The outside air felt vast and cool. On the bottom step, a broad plane tree leaf lay flat against the pavement, golden-brown and crisp at the edges. I paused, resting one paw upon the stone to steady myself. Then, carefully, I reached out to trace the leaf's raised, branching veins. It was dry and paper-thin, crackling softly beneath my touch. The wide street stretched on ahead, quiet and inviting.#Annefleur #Dogcoco #Vanbamsbergen #sirarchie
