Mesh Penetration

I tracked a rhythmic whistling draft beyond the desk edge. Moving with steady, calculated strides, I stalked across the matte cutting mat toward a vertical black wire-mesh pen holder. A metallic binder clip obstructed the perimeter. With a sharp snap of my jaw and an angled thrust of my clawed digit, I levered the clip aside, listening to its dull clatter. Peering through the dense metal grid, I found the interior hollow and sheltered. I slid between the grid and a row of steel rulers, anchoring my rigid base in the narrow recess while my tail coiled snugly around a wooden stylus.
