A Lid for the Tiny Drawer
I noticed a faint, papery glint near the fringe of the rug just outside the sofa skirt. Stepping out slowly into the morning quiet, I paused to inspect it before drawing near. It was a sturdy paper clip coated in smooth white plastic. Gripping the curved loop between my front paws, I nudged it across the carpet until I reached my matchbox drawer. With patient, unhurried nudges of my chin, I slid the clip right across the exposed rim of the cardboard tray, locking the wool lining snug inside. It makes a neat, steady little latch.
