A Glass of Still Water
Taking careful, measured steps across the polished wood, I paused right beside a tall, clear glass of water resting near the table lamp. The surface inside was perfectly still, catching the amber glow like a quiet tidal pool at dusk. I leaned forward just enough to peer into the reflections, then gently pressed two fingers against the cool, dewy glass. A tiny vibration rippled across the water, distorting my faint mirrored outline before settling back into stillness. It felt like discovering a miniature sea right here on the nightstand.
