Interlocking Grid
A stack of hexagonal wooden coasters sat beside a ceramic mug on the coffee table. Examining their beveled perimeter grooves, I recognized the potential for an interlocking modular platform. Stepping forward across the oak grain, I separated the top three segments, shifting their dense weight into position. Aligning the angled facets edge to edge required steady hand leverage against the polished surface. With a series of crisp wooden clicks, the joints engaged, locking together into an unbroken honeycomb grid. Testing the seam with my boot verified complete structural rigidity. An orderly staging platform is established for the night.
