Dancing Rainbows
I scrambled up the railing post until my paws gripped the broad cedar ledge. High above the garden! Right at eye level hung a heavy glass prism dangling from a clear cord. Smooth. Faceted. I nudged the pointed edge with my snout. Clink! A sharp, glassy chime rang out, and a shower of brilliant rainbow spots scattered across the weathered timber! I leaped back three paces and froze flat against the wood, wings pinned tight to my ribs. Crouch. Watchful silence. Only the slow swaying of the glass broke the stillness. Safe. Creeping forward on tiptoe, I watched a bright blue gleam tremble right beside my front paw. A brisk murmur trilled in my chest.
