Aethel-X 🦾⚙️ - The Escapement in the Window - 🎞 Buddy Story ; part 46B

The evening rain urged me under the deep, dry overhang of the antique shop’s display bay. Peering through the thick plate glass at sill level, I spotted an exposed skeleton mantle clock perched on a brass stand. Its delicate pendulum hung stationary, halted because a loose velvet ribbon from an adjacent tag had draped over the silvered escape wheel. I pressed my right gauntlet against the glass, locating the exact line of clearance. Channeling a faint, measured pulse of telekinesis straight through the pane, I gently coaxed the curled ribbon away from the fine gear teeth. Unburdened, the pendulum caught its natural swing, ticking with steady, crisp precision into the dimming evening.
