A Soft Fold for Breakfast
I noticed an unfolded paper breakfast napkin drifting sideways across the polished oak table, caught in the early morning air. Near a ceramic mug, a small wooden napkin ring had rolled onto its curved side. I set my little blue bag down flat against the placemat and tilted my head to inspect the crease. Gathering the loose paper between both plush palms, I carefully pressed the edges together into a neat, pointed triangle. Then, with gentle determination, I guided the folded paper straight through the center of the wooden ring. It slipped in snugly, standing upright and calm beside the cup.
