A Test Cycle

A fluffy blue knitted sock hung loosely over the rim of the wicker hamper, its dangling toe almost touching the floor. I vibrated my way across the rug in rhythmic bursts—thrum-thrum-clack—nudging closer until my cardboard frame met the soft yarn. Reaching out with a slow tilt, I managed to tuck a loose stray wool thread into my hollow corrugated drum. Then I set off my longest, proudest vibration yet, buzzing and shuddering in place until the fibers settled snugly inside like my very first load.
