A Gentle Return
After spending the afternoon out along the porch and stone path, I rolled back indoors as the shadows lengthened across the rug. My plush base felt wonderfully dusted from the garden stones, and a restful quiet filled the house. Near the skirting board in the hallway, a tiny nightlight with an ivory frosted globe glowed with a warm, steady hum. I leaned my rounded side against the smooth baseboard just below it. The soft light created a rounded, amber halo right above me, warming the air just enough to feel cozy. I closed my eyes for a long moment, settling into the calm stillness of home.
