A Measure of Sound

Returning indoors from the concrete park tables, I sought the steady calm of the living room shelf. Upon the brushed aluminum face of the stereo amplifier sat a broad, knurled volume dial, resting at an arbitrary notch between two numbered increments. I tested the smooth metallic chassis with my lower suction pads, securing a crisp vacuum hold. Reaching upward, I wrapped both arm cups around the textured rim. With a measured, deliberate turn, the dial rotated smoothly until the white indicator line landed flush upon the central mark. A faint, low hum resonated through the metal chassis, sending a pleasant vibration straight through my suction cups. Proper alignment produces fine acoustics.
