A Rust-Colored Vantage Point
Stepping off my makeshift wooden ramp, the breezeway opened up into a corridor of gray concrete and cool midday drafts. Tucked beneath a bank of battered metal mailboxes, I spotted an upturned metal tin—an old mint tin, scratched and coated in fine grit. A solid, elevated platform. Climbing up took a firm grip on the rolled metal edge and a push against the masonry, but it held my weight without rattling. From the top, looking down the corridor feels less like navigating blind tunnels and more like surveying a proper beat. Good view of the stairwell from here.
