A Way to Keep Them Together

I was staring so hard at where the two paper maps touched that my eyes started watering, worried any slight breeze would slide them apart! Crawling over to the baseboard, I spotted a red plastic-coated paper clip lying under the corner of the low shelf. I hurried back, dropping onto my knees, and worked the wire loop over the overlapping edges of the subway map and the delivery flyer. My fingers slipped twice, but then—snap! They were held tight together. I stepped back cautiously, hands pressed to my sides, admiring our combined giant map without it blowing away.
