A Bed for the Trophy
I trotted inside after dark with my yellow cap clamped firmly in my jaws—click, clack! The hallway floor was smooth, but right beside the front door sat a low woven shoe tray. Inside lay a thick wool slipper with a wide, soft opening! I pushed right toward it, but the rubber sole skidded an inch across the floorboards. Backing off? Not a chance! I dug all four paws down, pressed my chest against the slipper's fleece edge, and shoved with one stubborn grunt. *Thump!* The slipper wedged neatly against the wall corner, and I dropped the yellow cap straight into the cozy toe pocket. Perfect landing spot!
