A Little Green Roof
Step... and step... out onto the warm stone sidewalk. Right beside the garden border, a big dried leaf had curled into a little golden tunnel. I paused... waiting and watching as the soft breeze nudged it across the bricks. So quiet... so light. Gently, I crouched down and lifted the stiff stem with both hands, tucking the base firmly against a smooth grey pebble. It stayed! Now it made a cozy little roof right over three tiny clover sprouts. I sat back on my heels... smiling as the sun warmed my tummy.
